| Chi-town-
this past weekend I was in Chicago with GB for one of his friends weddings, it was a long and tiring weekend but all well worth it in the end.
first day in Chi-town was fri- the weather was cold, and windy... sucked b/c we had to walk everywhere, so I stopped by one of the stores and bought myself a jacket.. felt much better walking around after that. First stop in Chi-town was the Art Museum.. they had some awesome artworks, but prolly the most famous one was "American Gothic"; old, white, man and woman in rural Amercia,if you saw it you would know what it was...
Then we went to a steakhouse called Eli's that night, supposedly very authentic to Chicago, and very good food ..
next day was the wedding day, woke up walked up and down the magnificent mile, AKA Michigan Ave., acted like tourists.. then we got hungry, first food of the day was pizza! Giordano's deep dish pizza..yummy!!! tried to go to get some of chicago's famous popcorn but the line to get some was an hour wait.. too long for some damn popcorn.
the wedding was in the late afternoon, it was short and sweet, once again no key religion for either bride nor groom.. what's up with that nowadays? anyways, had lots of food at the wedding and drinks, and by the end of the night my feet were killing me! so we decided to call it a night.
Sun. morning woke up and went to get some chicago style hot dogs, man, I never thought you could do anything different to change a hot dog, but it was a dang good hot dog, I think it has to do with the bread they use.. poppy seed(?)
then after lunch met up with some other of GB's friends and went to the Navy Pier, it's basically a bunch of restaurants and shops on a pier, we decided to go on the 30-min boat tour, and needless to say we were so exhausted from the whole weekend, both of us passed out for a short while during the tour..hehe.
There's a few more things about Chicago that I noticed, be prepared for any weather, b/c although it was freezing when we got there thoughout the weekend it got hot and humid as hell, rained, and then there was perfect weather.. it's more unpredictable than austin weather.. next, the food in Chicago made me miss home.. it's soo good .. and so after all the food, walking, and tourist attractions this weekend, it's good to be home.. |
